Magmatic ore deposits associated with ultramafic and mafic rocks (MODUM) include strategically important Ni, Cu, Co, Pt, Pd, Rh, Cr, V and Ti resources.
Currently, MODUM are estimated to account for 7% of the total value of annual global metal and mineral mining.
MODUM include the world’s greatest concentration of metals located in the Bushveld Complex, which has an estimated total metal endowment value of US $3.6 trillion.
A value-based approach to MODUM exploration is proposed that captures a larger range of known mineralization styles, settings and commodities.
The high total value and value per tonne and the known clustering of MODUM is major inducement for future exploration investment.
