Nonlinear seismic response of dam-reservoir system is studied. Material and joint nonlinearities are considered and modeled. Dam responses to forward-directivity and ordinary near-fault earthquakes are compared. The effects of strong velocity pulses on nonlinear seismic response are studied. The range for which the pulse can predict the original forward-directivity earthquake is determined.
