Convergence between Australia and Sundaland is partitioned on two main fault systems. Convergence on the Baribis–Kendeng fault system stretches across northern Java. Observed crustal deformation in Java correlate with historical earthquakes patterns. Post-seismic deformation of west Java following the 2006 Java earthquake is ongoing.
