A novel surfactant NHPA was synthesized and firstly utilized as the collector of quartz. Collecting ability of dodecylamine was promoted by insertion of hydroxypropyl group. NHPA shows excellent collecting ability and selectivity at neutral slurry pH. Adsorption mechanism of NHPA on quartz was explained by FT-IR, zeta potential and XPS measurements.
