This study firstly demonstrated the distribution of causative pathogens among different categories of ICUs within a single multi-specialty hospital in developing country. Patients in surgical ICUs were more susceptible to infections than in medical ICUs. Gram-negative organisms (e.g. Acinetobacter baumannii) were the major pathogens in eight ICUs. Infectious organisms were different between NICU and adult ICUs.
