The blue PDAPMO films turn purple, red and yellow successively upon heated. Temperature ranges for thermochromism are rather wide. The purple-to-red transition is rapidly and completely reversible. A possible mechanism of thermochromism is proposed. The films can also respond to mechanical stress and organic solvents.
