Ring opening of -substituted--methoxycarbonyl-N-nosylaziridines provides a practical access to enantiopure ,'-disubstituted -lactamscaffolds, novel types of ditopic reverse turn surrogates. The procedure is general, short, and high yielding and starts from handy -substitutedserinates and -amino acid derivatives.
