A series of 3-arylthio-1,3-disubstituted-oxindoles were prepared in good yields by the reaction of 伪-diazocarbonyl compounds and sulfenamides. The reaction involves a Rh-catalyzed thia-Sommelet鈭扝auser-type rearrangement.
