The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is a standard test in clinical laboratories, in order to asses the status of diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance. Patients with pathological OGTT, plus one of the following two criteria, waist circumference pathological (> 102 cm. in men or > 88 cm. in women), or overweight/obese (body mass index [BMI] 鈮?#xA0;25 kg/m2 or BMI 鈮?#xA0;30 kg/m2), have probably associated others cardiovascular risk factors (CVRF), which means a high cardiovascular risk (CVR) for this type of patients. We propose the OGTT to identify patients with moderate/high cardiovascular risk, which we must evaluate.
