Mixed methods research, that is, the combined use of quantitative and qualitative methods in the same study, is a very used approach in several fields, for example in Education and Sociology. However, the attention devoted to the application and benefits of mixed methods research in Management is very low in relation to other fields. The purpose of this article is to describe the main characteristics of this methodological approach (mainly the type of designs, purposes and advantages), contributing to its diffusion among management scholars. In addition, a literature review of the use of mixed methods research in the journal Cuadernos de Econom铆a y Direcci贸n de la Empresa (CEDE) is carried out, examining the prevalence of mixed methods articles and their main characteristics.
