We present an investi
gation into the manipulation of nuclear spins near the
ν=1 quantum Hall state of GaAs/AlGaAs usin
g optical pumpin
g methods. For this, we have built a custom-desi
gned polarization controller which allows for arbitrary polarizations of near-infrared laser li
ght to be transmitted throu
gh fiber optics onto the sample. Usin
g resistive readout, it is demonstrated that different polarizations of li
ght induce specific chan
ges in the transport properties in the first Landau level of the GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well.
