摘要
The objectives of the present study were to investigate episodes of sexual harassment as encountered by students during their practical training periods in the Taiwanese hospitality industry. The author sets out to explore the types and the frequency with which these acts of sexual harassment took place, as well as to shed light on the different paths the students took in dealing with their harassers and seeking (or failing to seek) assistance. A series of questionnaire surveys were carried out. It was discovered that not only had a majority of the respondents experienced certain forms of gender harassment (91.7%) and seductive behavior (71.1%) during their practicum training periods, but also that such incidences of harassment were encountered on a regular basis. The study concludes with a discussion of the research limitations of the present study, suggestions for future research, and recommendations for related authorities to take to mitigate the number of future occurrences of sexual harassment in the hospitality industry.
