摘要
Large welded aluminum extrusions can be applied in high-speed train,automotive and aerospace industries.The application of Friction Stir Welding in large aluminum extrusions manufacturing including the welding ability of 6063 Al alloy,the manufacturing technology,and the purpose-built FSW welder and jigs is briefly introduced in this paper.Through the study of the tensile strength,impact value,hardness and microstructure of the joints,the FSW manufacturing technology of the 6063Al alloy has been optimized.The results indicate that,high parameters match (both rotation speed and traverse speed are high) is more suitable for 6063A1 alloy joining.The tensile strength of the FSW joints can normally attain 80% of the base metal.But with the increase of the welding travel speed and the pin-tool rotation speed,the strength of the weld has been obviously improved,and can get culmination of 90% of base metal.The impact value of FSW joints has also been significantly improved comparing with base metal in this study.
