《曼斯菲尔德庄园》中的海洋元素研究

摘要
在创作后期,奥斯丁意识到了海洋对英国发展的重要性,在小说中加入了大量海洋元素,《曼斯菲尔德庄园》是其中之一,奥斯丁在这部小说中巧妙地表达了对19世纪英国社会政治的洞察和批判。综合奥斯丁的个人家庭背景和经历与小说中关于英国殖民扩张事业的描述,可以解读18-19世纪英国皇家海军、重要港口城市朴茨茅斯和海洋在大英帝国殖民扩张事业中分别扮演的重要角色,以及奥斯丁本人对工业革命和英国殖民扩张事业的态度。
In Austen's later works, she realized the importance of sea in British development so that she had adopted a large amount of sea elements. Mansfield Park is one of them. In this novel, Austen tends to elaborate her insight and criticism upon the British society in the 19th century. Coupled with her family background, her personal experience and the description about British colonial expansion in the novel, the importance of British navy, ports such as Portsmouth and the sea in 18th-19th century is shown vividly and Austen's personal views on British colonial expansion are revealed.
