Boyer was an outstanding educational reformer in the United States in the late of 20 th century. He opposed the separation between education and life, knowledge and cognition. He advocated the connection of the separated curriculum and focused on the development of students. Based on the common experience of human beings, Boyer found out the adhesives of school curriculum—eight themes. Around these themes, Boyer built up a coherent course network. Such a curriculum system has connected the joints between students' cognition and the world of life and the world of knowledge. This is a holistic curriculum thoughts.
