Changing the inlet vacuum and differential pressure of intercooler of a diesel engine, research on the power performance and emission was conducted. The results show that engine power and torque decrease at most 0.4 percent with inlet vacuum increases when it is on the full load working conditions; and the correction factor increases at the same time. Engine power and torque decrease at most 3.4 percent with differential pressure of intercooler increases; and specific fuel consumption increases at the same time. CO and HC emission decrease with the increase of inlet vacuum and differential pressure of intercooler when it is on the 13 steady state working conditions, while NO_x and smoke intensity at the same time increase.
