In this paper, the abnormal wear failures of a certain type of marine generator diesel engine were studied, the monitoring and diagnosis analysis process was constructed by using such technical means as atomic emission spectrum analysis, infrared spectrum analysis,PQ ferromagnetic particle analysis, ferrography analysis and partial physical and chemical index detection technology. Through 500 hours ' tracking operation monitoring of three diesel engines, the abnormal wear of the piston rings, cylinder sleeves and big end bearing of connecting rod in the diesel engines was accurately detected and verified. The practice indicates that the methods and procedures are effective in the detection, evaluation, diagnosis and analysis of the engine' s abnormal wear.
