Liaoyuan City, a typical mining town in China, has a long history of mining development. The coal resources are mainly distributed in the urban area. After nearly 50 years of mining, there are left a large number of geological environment problems. In this paper, based on data collection and investigation on Liaoyuan City, the environmental geological problems and hazards were summarized, the mine geo-environmental protection and comprehensive control strategy for resource-exhausted cities were proposed, which may be as the basis data and technical support for transformation of Liaoyuan City.
