In this paper, depositional environments, time-space distributions and geochemical characteristics of Devonian marine source rocks in the Guizhong Depression were investigated. The results demonstrated that there were two suits of excellent marine source rocks in the middle and lower Devonian of the Guizhong Depression, which were mainly deposited in an early basinal facies environment south to the Nandan-Hechi-Yizhou area. These source rocks had a thickness generally between 40 m～200 m and contained abundant organic matter, most of the TOC values were more than 2.0%, with the maximum value over 4.7%. Their original hydrocarbon-generative potential (S₁+S₂) was more than 6.0 mg/g and the kerogen was dominated by sapropelic macerals relatively accounting for 38.7%～89.7%. δ¹³C values of the kerogen ranged between -27.80‰～-24.84‰.
