The multidimensional analysis theory is applied to study and evaluate the influence of grey threshold on microstructure. The investigative samples, constituting three SEM photos, came from identical clay. The study shows that both area and circumference of particle aggregation can be expressed by their corresponding trigonometric function. The variation trend of the first, the second and the third principal component along with threshold is similar to each other for the three SEM photos, and the first principal component climb up to the peak at or around default grey threshold.
