Many stalagmite oxygen isotope records from China monsoon regions inversely couple with integrated large-scale temperature on long-term time scale. Analyzing with the concept of circulation effect, it is found that the relaxation of the trade wind controls both the major changes in the stalagmite δ¹⁸O from Chinese monsoon regions and the temperature anomalies of the Western Pacific warm pool which largely affect the global temperature trend. Therefore, it could be confirmed that the inverse coupling between the two is determined by the trade winds.
