The contents of heavy metals were determined to predict the trend of pollution by heavy metals in surface soils of Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. The Kriging method was applied to disclosing the spatial distribution of environmental capacities for heavy metals in surface soils. The results showed that the accumulation increasing ratios of different heavy metals followed the order of Cd>Pb>Zn>Cu>Ni>Cr>Hg>As. Environmental capacity and its consuming velocity of different elements were of diversity. The areas of high and moderate capacities account for above 90%, and those of low capacity, alert capacity and overload capacity were 5.6%, 0.9% and 2.5%, respectively.
