The Qinling orogenic belt, the Weihe graben and the Ordos Basin are linked together to form a dynamic system. In the system formed by orogenic belt and basin, the formation and evolution of the Weihe graben and uplift of the orogenic belt are closely associated with tectonic changes of the Ordos Basin. The evolution process of the Weihe graben can be divided into three stages, including from the Late Cretaceous to Paleocene (K2-E1), from Eocene to Pliocene and the Quaternary period (Qp, Qh). Evolution of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau came into a transition period during 20±(2~4 ) Ma B.P., which produced remote effects on its adjacent regions. The Weihe graben produced remote effect on the evolution of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau when sedimentation in the Weihe graben corresponding to the Qinghai-Tibet, Kunhuang and Gonghe movements.
