The Middle Jurassic is dispersed in oft-com:office:smarttags" />Edong Basin. On the basis of information from field outcrops, rock thin sections and paleontology, by the principle of advance sedimentology and continental sequence stratigraphy and the analysis sedimentary facies, provenance, tectonic background, it’s known that the Middle Jurassic in Edong Area is characterized by braided river, braided-river delta, shallow lake and deep lake sedimentary system, which is divided into approximately 4 third-order sequences and they are equal to 1 second-order sequence. The development of sequence is determined by the interaction of tectonic vertical movement, provenance supply, the abilities of transport and denudation, terrains which all are affected by the movement and deformation tectonic background from Qinling-Dabieshan orogenic belt and Mid-Yangtze foreland basin.
