///Aimed at exhaustion of shallow coal resources of local mining district in Hongyang coal field in Liaoning Province, this paper predicted the occurrence of coal resources in great depth and peripheral areas of the coal field, prospective areas for exploration and development as well as amount of coal resources. The second district of the coal field is a normal anticline, a structure controlling coal, the coal reserves at depth less than-1 500 m are 83 148×10⁴ t. In the south of the coal field, Yuejiabao anticline is developed southward. In the east of Xuwangzi exploration area, there are anticline and syncline of lower order, which can be considered as a prospective exploration area, the estimated coal resources at depth less than -1 500 m are 18 500×10⁴ t.
