Serpentine jade from Dashiqiao in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province is a special kind of traditional Xiuyan jade. The physicochemical characteristics, mineralogy and petrology characteristics of the serpentine jade were considerably different from Xiuyan jade. The radioactivity, chemical composition, mineral constitute features and the emission power in 8~15 μm spectrum of the serpentine jade are investigated and measured by using the modern petrological analytical techniques. It was found that the jade in this area possesses very good infrared emission ability without toxinic and radioactive elements.
