Based on the theory of classical sequence stratigraphy by Vail and the analyses of field outcrop, core and well-logging data, Changxing Formation can be divided into two third-order sequences in southeastern Sichuan Basin. Furthermore, on the basis of the establishment of third-order sequence framework in Changxing Formation, the vertical and lateral distribution of sedimentary facies in Changxing Formation is studied in the area. The rules above have an important sense for the further petroleum exploration of the southeastern area of Sichuan Basin.
