 In China, there are two models for the seismological and geomagnetic observation. One is the model of geomagnetic secular variation, which is built through the method of Natural Orthogonal Components (NOC). Another is the linear prediction model of the secular variation of geomagnetic field. Comparing the two models, the authors find that the former is superior to the latter. The authors also find that NOC is useful to extract the weak geomagnetic variation which is possibly related with the earthquake activity.
