The focus point of oil and gas exploration in the Sichuan Basin explored on the west Sichuan depression. The second Member of the Xujiahe Formation is the most important reservoir in this area which is characterized by strong anisotropism, developmental fracture and compaction. This paper applies fractal theory to the prediction of fissure in the reservoir of the Member 2 of the Xujiahe Formation. The results indicate that the presence of hydrocarbon accumulation is closely related to development of fissure and caprock.
