摘要

The strong dependence of the seismic wave velocities(compression wave and shear wave)on a formation’s mechanical and thermal characteristics make it possible for the reservoir engineer to monitor enhanced oil recovery processes in heavy oil reservoirs by active and passive seismic methods. In order to analyze and understand the field seismic data, the influence of temperature, pore pressure and compressional and shear deformations on the seismic wave velocites must be known.
