摘要
Water quality criteria, the scientific information on the suitability of water for a particular use, are being increasingly used to introduce more objectivity into the management of Australia's water quality. These criteria are based on sets of indicators of water quality. To date the indicators used have been predominately chemical and microbiological in nature, but recently, considerable advances have been made in the use of biological indicators of water quality.
