Mesozoic tectono-magmatic evolution of Mexico: An overview
详细信息    查看全文
文摘
Geology of Mexico originated by complex interactions of Atlantic (collision-rifting) and Pacific (subduction) tectonics. Changes in paleo Pacific subduction led to alternate stages of supra-subduction rifting and contraction. Transition between arc and rift magmatism migrated westward or eastward, leading distribution of Mesozoic mineral deposits. Jurassic Magmatism had rift affinity in east Mexico, oceanic back-arc in central Mexico, and of arc affinity in the west. Two J-K rift-related oceanic basins developed: Gulf of Mexico and Arperos. The last was accreted in Late Cretaceous.
