A series of organic–inorganic polypseudorotaxanes based on Cu_x(SCN)_y polyanionic ring and bis(3,5-lutidine)alkyl dication threads are reported. This kind of interesting bis(pyridinium)alkyl template may facilitate the formation of 2D polypseudorotaxane. All these complexes exhibit excellent photochemical properties.
