The diverse functions of the liver and its interaction with other organs and systems, supports its involvement in several systemic diseases. Its participation is common, but in most cases is reflected as fluctuations in liver blood tests without clinical relevance. However, sometimes, the development of portal hypertension or acute liver failure can make the evolution and prognosis of the underlying disease.

This review presents the wide spectrum of liver manifestations that can occur during the course of chronic autoimmune diseases, vasculitis, or rheumatologic, neoplastic, hematologic or endocrine patologies among others.
