The Obama Administration of the United States established the Blue Ribbon Commission on America's Nuclear Future in January 2010 to conduct a comprehensive review of policies for managing the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle and recommend a new plan.In March of the same year, Secretary of the US Department of Energy moved to withdraw the license application for the Yucca Mountain repository.The Blue Ribbon Commission published its final report in January 2012 and made recommendations for managing the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle.One year later in 2013, the U.S.Department of Energy released the Strategy for the Management and Disposal of Used Nuclear Fuel and High Level Radioactive Waste.The Strategy sets a roadmap to implement the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission's report.In this prescntation, the current status of the US spent nuclear fuel disposition research development will be discussed.
