Objective To explore whether WeChat follow-up intervention can improve the prognosis of patients with overuse headache. Methods A total of 166 patients with overuse headache in the Department of Neurology, from Jan.2013 to Jan. 2017 in our hospital were randomly divided into two groups: Wechat follow-up group and conventional follow-up group. Follow-up took observation for 6 months, observed the success rate of drug withdrawal in MOH patients, the number of drug use days per month, the number of headache days per month and other changes. Results The success rate of drug withdrawal in the WeChat follow-up group was significantly higher than that in the control group(73.2% vs 52.5%, P=0.006). There was no significant difference in the number of headache days per month between the two groups within 6 months, but the number of monthly medication days in the WeChat follow-up group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.001). Conclusion WeChat-based follow-up measures can improve patient compliance and improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with MOH.
