Decay and Disarticulation Experiments of Three Arthropod Species
Based on uninterrupted variation record of the Eh and pH values and its macroscopical performance, the degradation of the three arthropods can be subdivided into three stages. It turned out that the process of decomposition was evidently affected by the substrate and the surrounding medium. The Eh and pH values drop greatly due to the degradation of organic matter; as a result, the surrounding environment is strongly reducing but not apparently acidic. There is a significant variation of decay and degradation of carcasses among different species.
