Origin of the Dabashan Foreland Salient: Insights from Sandbox Modeling
详细信息
摘要
///Based on sandbox modeling, the formation mechanism of the Dabashan foreland salient is discussed in the article.Experimental results show that multi-factors control the formation and evolution of the Dabashan foreland salient. These factors include pre-existing arc-shaped boundary originated in extensional setting,a pair of indenters in the front and basal d collement et al.Besides, the former-formed structures in extensional setting may have a significant influence on the later stuctures in compressional setting in North Dabashan mountain.Accordingly, the evolutional history of the Dabashan foreland salient can be divided into 5 stages: ①Hannan block,Shennongjia block and Huangling block quickly uplifted during Jinningian movement which served as indenters afterward;②primary boundary conditions formed during the Early Paleozoic extension along the northern margin of the Yangze Block;③Middle-Late Triassic collisional orogeny which caused structural inversion and appearance of the original Dabashan foreland salient;④Middle-Late Jurassic intra-continental orogeny which resulted in the formation of the Dabashan foreland salient;⑤modified by strike slip faults after Cretaceous.
