Thermal decomposition behavior of polyaluminum ferric chloride (PAFCNa, PAFCCa), polyaluminum chloride (PACNa, PACCa), polyferric chloride (PFCNa, PFCCa), which were synthesized respectively with NaOH or Ca(OH)2 as basicity dose, were studied by TG-DTG and DTA techniques. The TG analysis showed that the amount of coordinating water molecules in PAFCCa is higher than that in PAFCNa, and, there are mainly coordinating water and crystal water in PAFCCa. The results of TG-DTG analysis support that the XRD patterns display that Ca(Ⅱ) combined with Al(Ⅲ) and Fe(Ⅲ) and formed crystalline phase hydrogrossular [Ca3Al2(OH)12].It is double [Ca3Al2(OH)12] structure. Two of the dehydration peaks (shoulder) at 125 or 180 ℃ on the DTG curve of PAFCCa may be one of the judge criteria that there is or no ettringite phase in PAFCCa.
