Using the mechanism solutions of the strong and medium-small earthquakes in the Red-River Fault Zone and its vicinity, the authors analyze the distribution of the modern tectonic stress-field of the Fault Zone and discuss the characteristics of the focal rupture of the earthquakes alongside the Fault Zone. The authors find that the orientation of the main stress of focal mechanism is predominant. Focal rupture plane exposes the general state of the modern tectonic stress field of the Fault Zone and shows the main features of focal rupture. The stress field and features of the focal rupture in north segment are remarkably different from the ones in the middle segment but highly similar with the ones in south segment.
