A series of large and superlarge magnetite deposits such as Qiaopukalimo iron deposit, Laobing iron deposit and Jiertiekegou iron deposit as well as Wuruke iron deposit have been discovered in the Taxkorgan landmass, western Kunlun, Xinjiang. These deposits occur in biotite quartz schist of the Bulunkuole Rock Group as gypsum-iron formation characterized by obvious magnetic and geochemical anomalies. The deposits belong to marine volcanic-sedimentary origin superimposed by regional metamorphism.
