There are several geomorphic units with salted soils near the eastern bank of the Bosteng Lake, Xinjiang. Soil samples were collected linearly from north to south at 5 depths (0~1.00 m). The ion composition and total salinity of the samples were tested, and the types of the salted soils were determined. It shows that from the fine-soil plain to the lakeshore, the salinity of the soil tends to go up. The results of the soils appear that the soils are most sulphate at the zone of sand dune; on alluvial-pluvial plain the soils are most sulphate and chloride-sulphate at the southeastern bank while the soils are most chloride and sulphate-chloride around other geomorphic units. In the research area the salt tends to concentrate on shallow soils except for the zone of sand dune.
