China's Geological conditions are complex and various.Verifying the availability of electric exploration technique as well as exerting the high efficiency and low cost of non-seismic technique's advantages are the important issues at present shale gas exploration.This paper introduces the study and summarize of petrophysical characteristics of gas bearing shales such as density,rate of induced polarization,resistivity,etc,the shale gas exploration using timefrequency electromagnetic method in Junlian of southern Sichuan Basin.Our exploration results prove that the organic rich shales of Longmaxi formation (S1l) of Silurian has the proper physical properties could be used for electromagnetic method exploration.Time-Frequency Electromagnetic Method(TFEM)is an effective exploration technology for shale gas in this region.
