///Based on analysis of intensity distribution of historical maximum earthquake, the authors consider that Jieyang, Shantou and Chaozhou City are located in high intensity region of Ⅶ ～ Ⅷ degree. The urban disaster has the following features: destructive earthquakes occurred in the urban areas have higher potential risk; during earthquake the urban area has higher seismic intensity, bigger earthquake disasters and larger losses; by the use of the seismic damage analysis method of macroeconomic vulnerability, the authors reoccurred the historical destructive earthquakes in the area. The result shows that do a good job of earthquake preparedness and disaster reduction in the area is an important task to maintain the sustainable development of the social and economic development.
