Since sinkhole collapse is unexpected and concealment, it is difficulty to resolve the problems of monitoring and early warning. Through years of research and development, fiber optic sensors monitoring technology has become today’s most advanced ground deformation monitoring techniques, especially BOTDR technology. Its characteristics of distribution, long-distance, long-range real-time monitoring, as well as the fiber durability, are good to make up for the traditional monitoring technology. At present, seldom work has been done on optical fiber sensing technology in the sinkhole collaps (subsidence) monitoring of disasters. The main purpose of this work is to utilize the optical fiber sensing technology on the real-time monitoring of sinkhole collapse.
