In this paper, the traditional optimization algorithms and modern intelligent optimization algorithms of groundwater management models are introduced, and such optimization algorithms as genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, tabu search and artificial neural network that are applied widely in solving nonlinear groundwater systems are discussed in detail. Optimal designs of groundwater monitoring network and solution methods of groundwater multi-objective management models are also illustrated.
