Rare Earth Elements (REE)are a group of indicative elements with identical geochemical properties and special geochemical attributes. The composition of REE in the major deposits of the Wuchuan - Zheng’an - Daozhen area suggests that the total amount of REE and the partition mode in the bauxite-bearing horizons and that in the underlying Silurian Hanjiadian Formation strata are largely consistent and well correlated, implying a genetic relationship between the bauxite source and the Hanjiadian Formation. For the main ore -bearing horizons, the (La/Sm)N values are greater than the (Gd/Sm)N ones. This may indicate that the heavy and light rare earth elements have been well differentiated. The enrichment of REE has preference to lithology, and the rare earth elements are strongly enriched in the ore horizons and the Silurian Hanjiadian Formation which is rich in chlorite and silty shale ,whereas the REE are depleted in the Carboniferous Hanjiadian Formation dolo mitic limestone and Permian Qixia Formation limestone.
