The Weihai-Wendeng metallogenie belt is an important mineralization zone in the easteru Jiaodong Peninsula, with good mineralization condi- tions, where many gold and polymetallic deposits (occurrences) are widely distributed. Its mineral resources are dominated by gold deposits, followed by silver, lead, copper and zinc deposits. There are substantial but small-scale ore bodies, occurring in the secondary' faults on either flank of the south- nnrth-trending Mishan fault that may extends downward through crust. These ore bodies are mainly NE-trending, next EW direction, with upright occur- rences. Most of the surrounding rocks are Rnngcheng suite intrusives, and the rest are Linglong super-unit intrusives. Most ores are of polymetallic- sulfid quarts vein type, amt alteration of silicification, sericitization and Chloritization can be observed. Study suggests that in the late Yanshanian of the Mesozo- it', affected by the subduction of Pacific plate below the Eurasian plate, the southeast-northwest compressive stress field was converted into a tensile stress fiehl; the mineral-bearing fluids ascemled with the underplating of magma, and migrated and assembled in dilation zones of different structures and under appropriate temperature anti pressure, resulting in ore enrichment and mineralization. Thus the Mishan fault and its seeond fractures should be the main prospecting targets.
