The Xiashu loess at Lijiagang, Nanjing, is 20 m thick, and consists of 5 loess-paleosol complexes. Based on comparison between climatic stratigraphy and 13 OSL dates, the Xiashu loess at Lijiagang can be correlated with the last glacial cycle (MIS2-5). The content of coarse grains, proxy of winter monsoon intensity, demonstrates both orbital (precession) and millennial scale fluctuations, in which 11 cold events and 23 D-O oscillations can be distinguished. This study shows that the Xiashu Loess is largely modulated by low latitude climate signals, dissimilar to the loess in northern China, which reveals strong high latitude influences.oft-com:office:office" />
