Based on survey data of 156 observatories and repeat stations of China, 6 observatories and 36 IGRF points outside the China in 2000, the geomagnetic field models of total intensity (F), declination (D) and inclination(I) are established by Taylor polynomial model and Surface Spline model, meanwhile, the differential for φ(latitude) and λ(longitude) of models is carried out to calculate the geomagnetic horizontal gradients, respectively. The results showed that horizontal gradients of F and I varied mainly with latitude, which of F ranged from 7.0 nT/min to 6.0 nT/min while latitude increased, and got the biggest values in the central region (25°~35°N,90°~120°E) of China,I’s gradients varied range from 2’/min to 1’/min while latitude increased, D’s gradients varied with both latitude and longitude, which ranged from 0.4’/min to -0.3’/min in north-south direction while longitude increased and -0.1’/min to -0.4’/min in east-west direction while latitude increased respectively.
